Getting started
- Install Health Data Bot on your iPhone and open it. Tap Continue.
- Read Before you share, turn on the agreement switch, then tap I Agree – Continue. Nothing is uploaded until you agree.
- On Choose what to share, pick the categories (Activity, Heart, Body, Sleep, Workouts) and tap Continue.
- Tap Continue to Apple Health. In the iOS sheet, turn on the items you want to share and tap Allow. Access is read-only.
- The first sync starts automatically (the last 30 days by default). You can check it in the Sync tab or tap Sync Now.
- In the Connect tab, under Choose your AI, pick your assistant. Tap Subscribe to Get Your Link and choose monthly or yearly. Payment is handled by Apple.
- Tap Create My Link, then Copy Link (or Send to another device if you set up your AI on a computer). Follow the steps for your AI below.
Connect your AI assistant
Health Data Bot works with assistants that can connect to a remote MCP server by URL. The same steps are shown in the app when you pick your AI in the Connect tab. AI apps rename and move these settings often, and availability depends on your plan, app and region. If a menu name differs, look for Connectors, Apps, Plugins, Tools or MCP.
Grok
Recommended: Standard link. Set up on the web.
- In Health Data Bot, tap Copy Link and send it to your computer if needed (Send to another device).
- Open grok.com/connectors in a web browser and sign in.
- Click New Connector, then choose Custom.
- Paste your link as the MCP server URL and name it “Health Data Bot”.
- If Grok asks about authentication, choose none. If it insists on signing in, switch to the OAuth link in Health Data Bot, paste that instead and tap Allow on the Health Data Bot page.
- Start a new chat and ask, for example, “How did I sleep this week?”
On Grok Business and Enterprise plans, a team admin must add the connector. Grok Bot has no documented field for adding a custom server URL yet. If yours can add an MCP server, paste the same link.
ChatGPT
Recommended: Standard link. Set up on the web.
- In Health Data Bot, tap Copy Link and send it to your computer if needed.
- Open chatgpt.com/plugins, tap +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter the name “Health Data Bot” and a short description such as “My Apple Health data”.
- Under Connection, choose Server URL and paste your link.
- Set Authentication to “No authentication”, accept the risk notice, then create and install it.
- In a chat, type @Health Data Bot (or pick it from the tools menu) and ask about your health data.
Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan, and workspace admins can turn them off. To sign in instead, use the OAuth link, set Authentication to OAuth and tap Allow on the Health Data Bot page.
Claude
Recommended: Standard link.
- In Health Data Bot, tap Copy Link.
- Open claude.ai (or Claude Desktop) and go to Customize → Connectors.
- Tap + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it “Health Data Bot”, paste your link as the URL and tap Continue.
- When Claude shows the detected sign-in options, choose “No sign in”, then tap Add.
- Ask Claude, for example, “Summarise my activity for the last 7 days.” Connectors added on the web also work in the Claude mobile apps.
Available on all Claude plans; the Free plan allows one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds it in Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web, then you tap Connect. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http healthdatabot <your link>. To sign in instead, use the OAuth link and tap Allow on the Health Data Bot page.
Gemini
Recommended: OAuth link. Set up on the web.
- In Health Data Bot, make sure OAuth link is selected, then tap Copy Link.
- Open gemini.google.com and go to Settings → Connected Apps → Custom apps.
- Choose Add a custom app, paste your link as the MCP server URL, then tap Next.
- When the Health Data Bot page opens, tap Allow.
- In a chat, type @ and pick Health Data Bot, then ask about your health data. It also works in the Gemini mobile app afterwards.
Gemini custom apps are currently limited to the US, users aged 18 or over, personal Google Accounts and English, with Keep Activity on. Gemini CLI: gemini mcp add --transport http healthdatabot <your link> (the Standard link works there). Gemini Enterprise: an admin adds a Custom MCP Server data store using the Standard link with “No authentication”.
Other MCP-capable apps
- In Health Data Bot, choose Other MCP client and tap Copy Link.
- In your AI app, find where to add a remote MCP server (often called a connector, integration, plugin or tool).
- Paste your link as the server URL. Transport: Streamable HTTP.
- If the app requires OAuth sign-in, switch to the OAuth link, paste that instead and tap Allow when the Health Data Bot page opens.
- Ask your AI about your steps, sleep, heart rate, workouts or weight.
Developer APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI and Google accept the Standard link as a remote MCP server URL. Health Data Bot provides read-only tools for summaries, daily metrics, workouts, sleep, heart and body measurements, and the time of your last sync.
Troubleshooting
My assistant says it can’t reach the server or the connector failed to add
Check you pasted the whole link with no extra spaces. Make sure you are using your current link: Create New Link (Rotate) and Revoke Link in the Connect tab turn off the old one. If your assistant requires sign-in, switch the Link type to OAuth link and paste that. Some assistants only allow custom connectors on certain plans or apps.
The assistant says my subscription is inactive
Open Health Data Bot and check Settings → Subscription. If you recently renewed or reinstalled, tap Restore Purchases. Billing problems are handled by Apple: tap Manage Subscription or use your Apple Account subscription settings.
My recent data is missing or out of date
Open the Sync tab and tap Sync Now. The Health Data Bot server section shows what your AI sees as your latest upload. If uploading is paused, turn on Share Health data in Settings. iOS limits how often apps can refresh in the background, and Health data is not available while your iPhone is locked, so syncing may pause until you unlock it. Low Power Mode and turning off Background App Refresh can also delay updates.
A category (for example sleep or heart rate) is empty
In Health Data Bot, check Settings → Categories. Then check that iOS allows it: open the iPhone Settings app, then Health → Data Access & Devices → Health Data Bot, and turn on the items you want (or tap Review Apple Health Access in Health Data Bot settings). Also confirm Apple Health actually has data for that category from your iPhone, Apple Watch or another app.
The assistant isn’t using my health data
Make sure the connector is enabled for the current chat (in ChatGPT and Gemini, mention it with @), then ask more directly, for example “Use Health Data Bot to get my average step count for last week.”
I reinstalled the app or got a new iPhone
Install Health Data Bot and complete the setup again. In the Connect tab you’ll see We found your subscription: tap Restore Purchases (also in Settings → Subscription). Your subscription moves to the new install, the app re-uploads your history, and you then tap Create My Link to get a new link. The old link stops working, so update it in your assistant.
Subscriptions
- One subscription covers one AI connection link. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- To cancel or change plans: in Health Data Bot tap Settings → Manage Subscription, or open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Health Data Bot.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Deleting the app or your Health Data Bot data does not cancel your subscription.
Keep your link safe
Your connector link works like a password: anyone who has it can read the health data you share through Health Data Bot while your subscription is active. Don’t post it publicly or share it in screenshots (the app only ever shows the start of it). If you think it has been exposed, open the Connect tab and tap Create New Link (Rotate); the old one stops working immediately, including any sign-ins made with it. Revoke Link turns it off without creating a new one.
Delete your data
In Health Data Bot, open Settings → Delete My Data.
- Delete everything: tap Delete My Data, then Delete Everything. Your account, connector link and all stored health data are deleted from our servers immediately, the encryption key for your data is destroyed, and the app returns to the start.
- Delete health data only: tap Delete Uploaded Health Data Only, then Delete Uploaded Data. This wipes stored health data but keeps your account, subscription and link, and pauses uploading. To upload again, turn on Share Health data in Settings.
- Pause or stop reading: turn off Share Health data in Health Data Bot settings, turn off Health Data Bot’s access in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices, or delete the app.
Deleting data in Health Data Bot does not delete data already received by your AI assistants, such as previous chat history. Remove the Health Data Bot connector in your AI’s settings and use your AI provider’s own controls for those chats. Deleting data also does not cancel your subscription: use Manage Subscription. See the privacy policy for details.
